A fax is a copy of a document that is sent
over a telephone line. The original
document is fed into an electronic fax machine which then “phones” the fax
machine at the receiving company. The document
is sent as a series of pulses over the telephone line.
NOTE: It is important that the fax machine at
the receiving end is switched on and has paper – otherwise the fax will not be
properly received.
Often a “fax header page” is sent as the first
page of the fax – with other pages following it in succession. If the message is quite short then the fax
header may be included the main (single) page containing the message.
